Project Afterschool Resource Cencter (ARC) II
Founded in 1872, Firman Community Services began life as a settlement house assisting immigrants from Europe and poor Southern migrants in the U.S. in finding jobs and housing. It is Firman's vision to help create and anchor a strong, positive foundation for children, as a critical first step toward success in life.

Firman Community Services is one of the premiere human services providers of educational and other support services for at-risk youth in Chicago. Firman Community Services' 21st Century Community Learning Resource Center's ARC (Afterschool Resource Center) Program was created as a result of the No Child Left Behind Act 2001 which was designed to build a stronger educational foundation for children. Funded by the U.S. Department of Education Project ARC is Firman's answer to the elimination of the academic distress that plagues our society.

  Meeting Your Mark

"Even after four years of public schooling, most students perform proficiency in both reading and mathematics. Minority and disadvantaged students are most at risk for falling behind." - U.S. Department of Education, Office of the Secretary, Office of Public Affairs, A Guide to Education and No Child Left Behind, Washington, D.C., 2004.

ARC II provides a safe and nurturing refuge after school and on weekends. Literacy is essential for the growth of our children today, to become the future leaders of our world tomorrow. Come meet your mark with Project ARC II!

ARC II is a weapon that can help win the war for the minds of young people shaping them into positive role models and the future leaders of our world tomorrow!

Does your child/children need our assistance in meeting their mark? If so, please contact us.
